Animal Care and Control
The Animal Care and Control Division’s mission is to help keep Fort Worth citizens safe by providing pet-care education and services. These programs work to reduce the number of unwanted stray animals in the city, minimize the threat of diseases such as rabies, and prevent injuries caused by animals. Programs focus on educating pet owners about:
- the importance of licensing companion animals
- the need for vaccinations and proper veterinary treatment
- the advantages of having pets altered; and
- how to safely and humanely protect pets with adequate enclosures and shelter.
