Furlough and Holiday Closures

The next and final furlough day will be Friday, Sept. 3, followed by the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 6. As a result of the furlough and holiday, some city services and programs will be unavailable.

Forest Park pool open; YMCA pools open June 5

Due to budget cuts, six of the seven City of Fort Worth public swimming pools will not open for the 2010 season. The Parks and Community Services Department will only operate one swimming pool  — Forest Park Pool, 2850 Park Place, 76110 — for the 2010 summer season. The City’s six other swimming pools will not open in accordance with the Fiscal Year 2010 budget; however, the City has contracted to open some YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth pools to the public beginning June 5.

Swimming pool hours at Forest Park Pool are from 1-7 p.m. according to the following schedule:

  • May 29-31, Memorial Day weekend: Open
  • June 5-6: Open
  • June 8: Regular season schedule begins; open Tuesdays-Sundays
  •  July 2: Closed due to City furlough day
  • August 15: Regular season schedule ends; weekend-only hours begin
  • August 21-22, 28-29 and September 4-5: Open for weekend swim
  • Sept. 6, Labor Day: Open; last day of pool season

Forest Park Pool admission prices are $2 for children and $2.50 for adults.

All residents may use outdoor pools at four local YMCA locations 2-4 p.m. Admission prices are $1 for children and $1.50 for adults.

Fort Worth YMCA locations open for public swim include:

  • McDonald Community YMCA, 2400 East Berry St.,  76105
  • Eastside YMCA, 1500 Sandy Lane, 76112
  • E.R. Van Zandt Southwest YMCA, 4750 Barwick Drive, 76132
  • Westside YMCA, 8201 Calmont Ave., 76116

Eastside, E. R. Van Zandt Southwest and Westside YMCAs are open seven days a week. McDonald Community YMCA is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.

Per the adopted Fiscal Year 2010 budget the following pools will close: Como, Hillside, Kellis, Marine, Sycamore and Sylvania.
