MAYOR'S COMMITTEE ON PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
AUTHORITY FOR CREATION AND OPERATION: Authorized by resolution adopted by the City Council on May 12, 1981, formally recognizing the committee as one of the City's standing committees. Resolution No. 2034 was adopted by Council on January 17, 1995, changing the title from the Mayor's Committee for the Employment of Persons with Disability to Mayor's Committee on Persons with Disabilities. Resolution No. 3132 was adopted on October 12, 2004, reorganizing the Committee.
COMPOSITION: Representatives for not more than 27 service providers.
METHOD OF APPOINTMENT: Appointed by each member organization and employer, subject to the approval of the Mayor and City Council.
TERMS OF OFFICE: Serve for a two-year term.
GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES: To promote and to support programs and activities for employment of the handicapped.
Members are not considered to be officers of the City of Fort Worth.
MEETING TIME AND PLACE: The Committee meets on the first Thursday of each month at 8:15 a.m. at 1800 University Drive. For meeting agendas, please visit the City Calendar.
