Council District 2

Councilmember Sal Espino

Councilmember Sal Espino is serving his third term as the City Council District 2 Representative. District 2 stretches north from downtown through LaGrave Field (home of the Fort Worth Cats), the Rose Marine Theatre, the Stockyards National Historic District, Meacham International Airport, and historic neighborhoods in North Side, Far Greater Northside, Diamond Hill, and Riverside to the northernmost tip of the city, which extends into Denton and Wise counties. Also included in this district are the newly developed housing areas north of Loop 820, Alliance Airport, the Texas Motor Speedway and Cabela’s — the popular new hunting, fishing and outdoor sporting goods store.  

Mr. Espino and the City Council are committed to responding to citizen concerns on streets, transportation, public safety, code compliance, and quality affordable housing.

Mr. Espino has lived in North Fort Worth most of his life. He attended Circle Park Elementary (now Manuel Jara Elementary), J.P. Elder Middle School and the High School for Finance Professions at Polytechnic, where he was valedictorian of his class. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University and graduated magna cum laude. He went on to receive a law degree from Southern Methodist University and currently is a licensed attorney. Mr. Espino holds several professional memberships, including the State Bar of Texas, the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Mexican-American Bar Association.

Mr. Espino also is a former member of FWISD Citizens' Advisory Committee on School Board Member Redistricting and the St. Joseph Health Care Trust Grants Committee for the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth. He attends All Saints Catholic Church, where he has served on the Parish Council, Parish Center Building Committee and Lector Ministry. He also is past chairman of the Cinco de Mayo Committee and Dieciseis de Septiembre Committee. Mr. Espino currently serves as President of Cassata High School, an educational outreach program of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth.

Mr. Espino currently serves on the following City Council Committees:

• Central City Revitalization and Economic Development

Mr. Espino is President of the Fort Worth Sport Authority, Chairman of the Mayor's Advisory Task Force on Quality Affordable Housing, a City of Fort Worth appointee to the Regional Transportation Council and director of the Fort Worth Housing Finance Corporation and Fort Worth Local Development Corporation.

 Mr. Espino also serves on the following tax increment finance boards:

Mr. Espino is married to Elizabeth, wife of 19 years. They have 4 children – Salvador Jr., Robert Andres, Alyssa Bianca and Daniel Enrique.
