Freeway Relocation
completed December 2001

In the 1950’s, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)  began construction of Interstate 30 through Downtown Fort Worth over Lancaster Avenue.  In 2001, TxDOT began dismantling of the Lancaster Elevated Freeway in an effort to realign and reconstruct the interstate to modern standards.  The relocation of Interstate 30 provided the City with the opportunity to redevelop the Lancaster Cooridor.
