Property Acquisition
pending completion of Lancaster Reconstruction Project

In the 1950’s, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the City of Fort Worth acquired properties surrounding Lancaster Avenue between I-35W and Henderson Street for the development of Interstate 30 along the south end of downtown. With the relocation of Interstate 30 (I-30) to the south side of the Union Pacific railroad tracks and removal of the I-30 overhead structures, a revitalized Lancaster Avenue can be realized. The acquisition of surplus property initiative includes the process of reacquiring the surplus right-of-way along Lancaster Avenue from the State of Texas. These properties will be used for the development of residential, retail, office and park/open space.
