Lancaster Task Force
Water Gardens Improvement
In July 2000, a study was completed to improve the management and operations of the Water Gardens, and to strengthen the relationship of the park to its surroundings. The expansion and redesign of the Fort Worth Convention Center provides an opportunity to physically and functionally connect the building to the Water Gardens. Interlocking public spaces, such as a new event plaza at the north end of the park, should serve both the Convention Center and the Water Gardens. This new northern entrance and plaza will become components of a sequence of spaces that create a natural progression from the Convention Center’s southern Ballroom to the Central Square at the heart of the Water Gardens. These spaces could be utilized for Convention-related events that increase activity in the park and contribute to the funding of Water Gardens operations.
In December 2005, Archer Western began renovation work to the Water Gardens including renovation of the active pool, pump rooms and lighting. In March of 2007, the Water Gardens reopened with a memorial dedication.
