Fort Worth Telco Center (Zipper Building)
Completed June 2006
The city purchased the Zipper Building at 1111 Monroe Street to facilitate the establishment of a Building Permit Center. The Building Permit Center will consolidate into one convenient location most of the functions involved in the building permit process, making the process much more efficient for citizens. The Building Permit Center will be established on the lower level of City Hall, around the area currently occupied by the City's Development Department. To create the space needed for the Building Permit Center the City needs to relocate the majority of the Information Technology Solutions (ITS) Department staff currently located on the lower level of the City Hall. The dislocated ITS functions has been re-established on the 35,000 square foot, 2nd floor of the Zipper Building. Currently, Fort Worth Public Art is working with the family of the artist of the Zipper Building's mural to restore the sky portion of the mural. |
