Opens on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008

Closes on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008

Public reception on Sept. 26, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.

The exhibit will feature works by two of the most important sculptors in North Texas. Evaline Sellors was born in Fort Worth in 1903 and died here in 1995.  Gene Owens was born here in 1931. The highlight of the exhibition is the 1948 bust of a woman, titled Head of  Eve (pictured above).  This bust was carved from a piece of red sandstone that had been a window ledge in the original Carnegie Library in Fort Worth, which opened in 1901 and was demolished in 1936.

The exhibition will be on view in and around Desk B and the Sanders Art Study Area on the library’s lower level through Oct. 18. It will feature 40 pieces of art, mostly sculpture.
