Thank
you for your interest in the Tree Grant Program sponsored by the
Forestry Section of the City of Fort Worth’s Parks and Community
Services Department.
When
making the decision to commit to plant B&B trees from the City
of Fort Worth and maintain them for two years, there are many
factors to consider. Have you adequately planned for the resources needed to make your tree
planting project a success?
The
information presented in this resource guide is designed in a
question and answer format in order to help you be successful at
every step along the way of your Tree Grant Project. If, after
reviewing this guide, you have additional questions or comments,
please contact Melanie Migura at
817-871-5739.
The
Resource Guide is divided into the 3 basic phases of your Tree Grant
Project:

1.
Planning
Phase
- Where
am I allowed to plant the trees?
- What
trees are currently available from the Forestry Section for
planting?
- Where
and what trees should I plant?
- How
does the type of soil I have affect my tree planting project?
- Does
my site plan meet City of Fort Worth's spacing requirements for
planting trees?
- Does
my site plan clearly show where I want to plant trees in
relation to existing trees, sidewalks, buildings and other
structures?
- Besides
my site plan, have I accurately completed the Tree Grant
Application?
- Did
I submit my Tree Grant Application on time?
- How
am I going to plant the trees?
- If
using a professional
- If
using volunteers
- What
is the correct way to plant the trees?
- How
will I water the trees?
- If
hand watering
- If
using an irrigation system
- What
else do I need to think about?
2.
Planting
Phase
3.
Maintenance
Phase
-
How
much water do I need to give each tree?
-
How
can I tell if I’m giving the trees enough water?
-
What
else am I expected to do?
