trees Trees provide many benefits including, but not
limited to:
1) cooling our city
2) reducing ozone & air pollution
3) providing oxygen
The Forestry Section encourages tree planting on public property
through two programs: Neighborhood Tree Planting Program,
which provides free five-gallon
street trees; and the
Tree
Grant Program, which provides 3-inch caliper, balled and
burlapped (B&B) trees for planting on public property within the
City of Fort Worth.

inspection The Forestry Section consults with other city
departments upon request on how to preserve trees during city
construction projects.

replacement street trees If you
have lost your street tree from storm damage, street construction,
or just old age within the past year, you may be eligible for a
replacement tree. Call Forestry at 817.871.5738 for more
information. |

A Forester can issue a permit to a property owner to plant, trim, or
remove a tree in the parkway (area between the sidewalk & the curb)
at their own expense.

The Tree Preservation Ordinance is administered by the
Urban Forestry Compliance Section.

No matter your level of expertise, we have a volunteer program to
meet your needs! Whether you're interested in volunteering for
a day or you would like to commit to a long-term volunteer position,
Forestry has the program for you!

rolling hills
tree farm Forestry
manages a 71 acre tree farm where trees are grown from seed for our
tree planting programs. Forestry has also established a 10,000
gallon rainwater harvesting system & is currently working on a
prairie restoration project on site.

special events To promote a strong stewardship of Fort
Worth's urban forest that benefits all her citizens, Forestry
coordinates or is a major contributor to many special
events including Arbor Day, North Texas Urban Forestry Conference, Cowtown Brush-Up, Clean Air Fair, Cowtown Community Clean-Up
& many other events.

scheduling allows, Forestry provides presentations on various topics concerning our urban forest. Forestry is also involved in creating special cable programming such
as Cowtown Adventures
& A Walk in the Park.

natural resources Our urban forest consists of more
than street & park trees. The Forestry seeks to assist in the
management of the City's other natural resources such as grasslands
& woodlands. Learn about some of the projects in which

Section strives to recycle all removed plant materials.
Small wood debris is chipped. Heavy Equipment, another Section
of Parks and Community Services, mulches the wood chips. They
offer free mulch and compost to the citizens of Fort Worth.
