How does Forestry Prioritize Storm Damage Calls

Forestry has adopted the guidelines from Storms Over the Urban Forest, Second Edition 1994, a handbook developed by both Federal and State Agencies to aid municipalities in planning for, responding to, and mitigating for natural disasters.

  1. Trees down trapping injured people caught in car or home (requests made and supervised by EMS or other rescue personnel.)
  2. Clearing of trees and debris blocking arterial streets. (To allow access by emergency crews)
  3. Trees blocking all exits from businesses or individual residences at the request of EMS or other rescue personnel. (To allow for proper evacuation and access for emergency response personnel)
  4. Trees split, rocking, or partially down, or large broken and hanging limbs, that are in imminent danger of falling and causing additional injury or property damage.
  5. Debris fully blocking non-arterial streets
