Urban Forestry Compliance
The Urban Forestry Compliance Section was created to enforce the tree ordinance. The ordinance limits the removal of tree canopy and protected trees. It promotes multi-aged forest, orderly development of the City of Fort Worth and protects the public health, safety and general welfare of the citizens.
How does this ordinance affect Home Owners? Land Developers?
Home owners with less than an acre of land will not be affected. Home owners and development with more than one acre of land will have to maintain a minimum of 25% existing canopy and apply for an Urban Forestry Permit.
Why was the Tree Ordinance developed?
The tree ordinance was developed to establish regulations addressing the protection of healthy and significant trees and to provide for the replacement and replanting of trees that are necessarily removed during construction, development or redevelopment. The goal is to obtain a City-wide tree canopy with 30% coverage with a multi-aged forest.
